This site is to keep you informed of the work your representatives are doing on your behalf at the Clapton Panel. This panel is a neighbourhood sub-committee of the Hackney Homes N.E. Executive Residents Panel and is part of the resident participation program. There are two sub-committees in the north east, the second is the Stamford Hill sub-committee panel. The panels members are solely local residents, voted onto it by local estate TRAs.
As members of the Clapton panel we do our best to speak on behalf of residents in approx’ 3,570 homes in & around E5. If you are a Hackney Homes resident or leaseholder living in Clapton, this means you.
The Stamford Hill panel does the same for approx’ 3,803 homes in & around N16.
We regularly invite Hackney Homes & Pinnacle officers as well as local councillors and council officials to attend our meetings in order to ask questions and hold them to account. At our monthly meetings we have 2 reps from each of several local Tenants & Residents Associations and keep in touch with some 30 more.
We want to hear from you.
Help us speak on your behalf with some authority – tell us what you need, what you’d like and what problems you have now.
Email: claptonpanel@googlemail.com, write a message in “comments” below (we’ll get back to you), phone the chair (leave a message) on 07530 926 023 or get involved yourself.
See “If you would like to get involved…” further below.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

The panel meets on the second Tuesday of every month (with a break for August) in Gooch House, Kenninghall Road, Clapton E5, starting at 7pm
* 9th June 2009
* 14th July 2009
* 8th September 2009

We hope you all enjoyed the
Clapton Panel’s
Huge Community FUN DAY on Sept 5th!
We thought it went brilliantly.
Just enough visitors to finish off all the food – plus a few more.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the day.
The weather was just about perfect too.
(Photos further below)

“Outcomes”
Our primary objectives were to raise awareness of the Clapton Panel among Hackney Homes residents and to encourage estates without TRAs to form one, or a suitable resident to think about becoming a “Key resident” and so have direct access to the EIB (Environmental Improvement Budget) and 184 (Resident diirected communal repairs & alteration) as well as being eligible to have representation with voting rights on the Clapton Panel.
Our other objectives had residents general welfare and access to Hackney Homes services in mind – to show residents some of the information, help and services offered by a range of organizations available to them.
We hoped and aimed for between 300 and 500 visitors.
As it turned out, with staff and invited stands we did indeed have around 450 visitors over the 4 hours of the event.
We did raise awareness of both the panel and the services and help available to residents as well as generating interest in the TRA & resident involvement system – gratifyingly from several younger (under 30) residents.
There is still work to do in “follow up” but even without it I think it’s fair to say that overall the event was successful enough to hold it again next year, perhaps even slightly bigger (certainly better with the odd organizational lesson or two learnt).

The site plan
Here’s the first panorama. It’s a little deceptive at this scale. Even early on there were quite a few people which you can just about make out on the tree line, in front of the stage and all the way to the food stands on the far left behind the pop-up.
If you click on the picture it will come up in a separate tab or window – if you click on it again it should come up full size…
…about 10 inches high by about 26 inches wide.

Here’s some more of my quick digital snaps:

The panel has just elected a new chair (Mavis McGee), vice-chair (George McGee), treasurer (Susan Borghys) and secretary (David White), yours truly.
You can contact me or direct any correspondence to the panel at claptonpanel@googlemail.com or by leaving a comment here with your contact details and query and I will get back to you.
Over the next few days and weeks I will update this site so it encompasses all the work and activities the panel is involved with – and correct my grammar as this is just to get the ball rolling.
Fortunately, I am a graphic artist so have started to design a letterhead for the panel.
Below is the rough chosen by the panel and from which I will produce accurate finished visuals for final approval.

An image similar to the one below may take the place of the illustration in the top right corner of the letterhead (left), once it’s had the same “sketch” treatment.

You can see all the roughs & visuals for both the letterhead and several logo designs at:

Update – 25th May
This is the the latest letterhead visual “lorum ipsum” (text indicated) version.

As you can see, there are quite a few refinements and is very close to being finished.

Re: the old “letterhead”
By the way, the old “letterhead” was not really a letterhead at all, just some badly type designed text with a circa 1980 microsft word clipart pic of a family of 4 sitting around a table just slapped in top left (I think).
It badly needed updating – DW (Sec.)
